Welcome!
Welcome to Laura's Dog Training. If you are interested in taking dog training classes, this is the place for you! At Laura's Dog Training, we will cover topics such as obedience, agility, and the building blocks of positive dog training. Take a look around the website for more detailed descriptions of the classes that are offered and what you can expect for you and your dog.
Please Note: Due to time restraints and scheduling problems, group classes will not be offered for 2008. However, private lessons are available for half hour or full hour increments. Please see the Private Classes page for more information.
What is Positive Dog Training?
Positive dog training is associated with training through treats, play and praise.
Dog training is meant to be a team building experience for you and your dog. The bond between you should be strengthened, not damaged. With positive dog training, you and your dog can gain confidence in each other and yourselves.
During the first class, the handler will learn to use a clicker, an important tool in positive dog training. For more information on clicker training, see wikipedia's article. Clickers will be provided in class, you do not need to buy one.
Where will the classes be held?
Classes will be held at Laura's home (just outside of Elmwood), outdoors on grass. There is a fenced in yard and there will be a specific training ring outlined. Water and a kiddie pool for the dogs will be available.
